Who We are

THE SF MODEL

We commit to our children by creating individualized, flexible plans to address the challenges they face. We believe that their success is our success. We commit to ensure they access the proper education and acting preventively to place them on the pathway out of poverty.

THE PATHWAY

Every child who walks through our doors faces a unique set of challenges. A standard action plan could never meet all of their needs, which is why we create individualized pathways for each one of our children.

SF is not just a child sponsorship organization though. Three additional programs round out the holistic child development model of our work with children in poverty. Those other programs of our model include: household stability, education, and health.

Household Stability

We provide home security assessments and improvements, psychosocial support, food security, and packages. Our interventions always begin with stabilizing the poor households.

Education

SF takes a committed, long-term approach to fight poverty through education. Our Holistic child development model is made up of comprehensive programs investing in children from the beginning of their lives until they have reached adulthood. Our one-to-one child sponsorship program allows us to personally connect with a specific child in poverty and build a life-changing relationship. When we sponsor a child, we have the opportunity to influence that child during the adolescence stage, one of the most pivotal developmental periods.

Health

We know all too well that children’s ability to succeed in school is deeply connected to their health and well-being.

Community Involvement: Life in some townships of Gauteng and rural places in South Africa is not easy. Many households we work with are directly or indirectly affected by HIV/AIDS, persistent unemployment, and poverty. We consult with our caregivers so that our children can receive all of their medications, including antiretroviral therapy (ARVs).
